Good health is undeniably a crucial element for individuals to thrive in life.
This holds true especially in the context of delivering the high-quality education that every individual is entitled to. While schools are tasked with nurturing excellence in academics, it is imperative to recognize that it is good health that enables not only students but also the teaching and non-teaching personnel to collaborate effectively towards their shared objectives
This research aimed to assess the school health services provided by public junior high schools in Rodriguez, Rizal This also aimed to know the status of the school health services in terms of medical and dental equipment and supplies, knowledgeable and trained personnel in the field, and the overall physical setting and facilities of the schools. This study sought to find out the extent of the implementation of school health services according to the perceptions of the students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel It also identified challenges and opportunities in the implementation of school health services among public junior high schools in Rodriguez. Lastly, it aimed to provide an action plan proposal in the implementation of public junior high schools in Rodriguez. The study was conducted during the school year 2023-2024, with a specific focus on four schools from various clusters of Rodriguez respectively
The study employed Descriptive Quantitative Design to analyze the questionnaire-checklist and utilized a Descriptive Qualitative Design for the interviews. This approach aimed to gather information in a qualitative manner, enabling the research to effectively monitor and analyze data from questionnaires and interview guides. The study focused on determining the level of commitment of schools in delivering health services, ensuring that the data collected is both accurate and detailed The research involved conducting interviews and administering questionnaires to the students teaching and non-teaching personnel as respondents.
Based on the findings the researcher concluded that students, teaching. and non-teaching personnel in Public Junior High Schools have access to school health services and it is necessary to periodically reassess and monitor thern to ensure ongoing compliance the implementation of school health services in Rodriguez is supported by students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel in Public Junior High Schools and the challenges and opportunities faced by Public Junior High Schools in Health Services need to be addressed
Considering these conclusions the researcher recommended to intensify awareness campaigns to promote the health services offered by Public Junior High Schools in Rodriguez, regularly evaluate the actual status of these services to maintain or enhance their quality strengthen the implementation of health services in public junior high schools to achieve optimal satisfaction among students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel; provide plantilla positions for school nurse, doctor, dentist, and mental health expert, or hire knowledgeable staff to serve as clinic attendants, foster partnerships with stakeholders and other organizations, particularly LGUs and NGOs, such as School Red Cross Youth and Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and provide specialized training for mental health assessment and ensure prompt access to healthcare services through school referrals.
