Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Biology University of Rizal System, Rodriguez, Rizal 2013 Summary: This study aimed to determine the level of pesticidal efficacy of the Finosper rumphu Boerl (Makabuhay) stem extract. This study is limited to gathering fresh makabuhay stems, pounding and extraction processes, construction of collecting of sample pests and spraying the makabuhay stem extract on them. The researchers used golden snails as the subject of study The study employed the experimental design. The setting of the study was at the University of Rizal System Rodriguez campus laboratory. The researchers used specific number of sprays to five sets of five (5) golden snails in their experimentation to determine the level of pesticidal efficacy of the makabuhay stem extracts. They used one spray, two sprays, three sprays, four sprays and five sprays respectively within a period of 90 minutes for each experiment. Results of the study were tabulated and treated statistically using the weighted mean In one spray of makabuhay stem extract on five golden snails only one golden snail died within 90 minutes. In two sprays applied to the second set of five golden snails two died within 90 minutes. In three sprays two out of five golden snails died within 90 minutes In four sprays three golden snails died within 90 minutes and using five sprays all golden snails died within 90 minutes, which showed that the pesticidal efficacy of the makabuhay stem extract is effective From the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn The prepared makabuhay stem extract is confirmed to be an effective pesticide There is a significant difference between the mortality rates of golden snails with regard to the number of sprays. The results mean that the greater the number of sprays of makabuhay extract the more effective is the pesticide In light of the findings and conclusions the following are hereby recommended To the farmers or agriculturist it is recommended to use cheap but effective and ironmental friendly pesticide The School should provide students an adequate science laboratory to pursue their studies and to have an eagerness to discover new things especially related to science The Students and Future Researchers may improve this kind of study by means of using other chemicals or natural raw materials in their environment in order to enhance this research. Potential manufacturers could take the hint and manufacture environment-friendly pesticides to lessen consumers' problem of high cost and produce a cheap form pesticide.
