This study aimed to determine the causes of absenteeism among grade school pupils at Kasiglahan Village Elementary School.
Descriptive design using questionnaire checklist to determine the causes of absenteeism of the respondents was utilized.
The questionnaire has two parts, first is the profile of the respondents and the second part is the possible causes of absenteeism of the respondents. The questionnaire was administered to the 200 respondents from all grade level wherein females were one hundred nine (109) while males were ninety one (91). The result of the study was statistically treated using Frequency, Percentage and chi-square.
The following were the data gathered. In terms of Sex, majority of the respondents are female with a frequency of 109 or 54.50 percent. In terms of Age, majority of the respondents are 8 years old with a frequency of 54or 27.00 percent. In terms of Monthly Family Income, the majority of the respondents have a monthly family income of 500-below with a frequency of 131or 65.50 percent. In terms of Family Members, the majority of the respondents consisted of 5 family members with a frequency of 52 or 26.50 percent. In terms of Household Chores They tasked me to watch over our store top among any causes. In terms of Illness, head ache was the common cause. In terms of Truancy, playing video game is the reason of the majority. In terms of School Environmental Factor, class size is the major cause. In terms of Teachers Factors, teachers' tardiness topped any the causes. There is no significant difference in terms of Sex, Monthly Family Income, Family Member on the Causes of Absenteeism of the respondents but there is a significant difference in terms of Age of the respondents.
The researchers recommended that parents should guide their children properly.
They should also consider the needs of their children so that they can comply with it. To the teachers, they should give more understanding to their pupils' need. As much as possible they should extend their consideration to their pupils if this could help them improve their studies. They should be a role model to their pupils. To the Local Government. They should implement ordinances on computer shops. To the Computer Administrator, they should cooperate with the local government.
