This study was conducted to determine potentials of malunggay leaves extract as skin toner
This study was undertaken in the College of Education of University of Rizal System Taytay during the school year 2010-2011. This study involves the extraction of malunggay leaves juice and mixing it with scented alcohol to produce a skin toner. After producing skin toner of different concentration, the product was distributed to the respondents to determine the potentials of malunggay leaves extract After 7 days, the researchers went back to the respondents to know the results it was found out that the toner of greater concentration of malunggay leaves extract is more effective than the one with less concentration. The study also proved that malunggay leaves are not only good source of food but also good substitute to other commercial toner that can be bought from the stores.
The study was centered to malunggay leaves, which can be found elsewhere and to everyone's backyard. The rounded part of malunggay tree, with a green color. It was also found out to have more different medicinal attributes including anti-aging and healing property.
Twenty people experiencing different skin problems including male and female of legal ages were chosen to be the respondents of this study. They were chosen according to the criteria created by the researchers. These respondents were grouped into two for the researchers to determine the potentials of malunggay leaves extract as skin toner with respect to the concentration.
Descriptive - developmental and experimental method of research were applied in determining the potentials of malunggay leaves extract. Malunggay leaves juice was extracted and mixed in alcohol of different concentration. One of 60% malunggay leaves extract concentrate and the other with 50% malunggay leaves extract concentrate.
The data gathered using the questionnaire prepared by the researchers and were analyzed, interpreted and treated statistically. The statistical treatment used were Mean, Standard Deviation, Frequency and T-test.
As revealed by the findings, it was found out that the toner with more malunggay leaves extract concentrate is more effective than the one with less malunggay leaves extract concentrate.
Therefore it could be concluded that the more malunggay leaves concentrate, the better the result or the effectiveness of the toner is.
It is recommended that the further study has to be done to improve the quality of the product produced by the researchers.
