Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science University of Rizal System, Rodriguez, Rizal 2022 Summary: This study was conducted at the University of Rizal System Rodriguez Campus to find out Problems Encountered by College Students Residing in Marginalized Areas during the Conduct of Online Classes During the Academic Year 2021-2022 To determine the problems encountered by the college students residing in marginalized area, qualitative methods of research was utilized, because it is complementary to the nature of the research variables, 21 respondents were residing in marginalized areas and selected purposively and were given an online interview sent via email. The researchers gathered the need data, and proceed to interpret and analyzed the collected data. The data gathered were interpreted, and analyzed, and the researchers came up with the following findings. On the profile of respondents in terms of course, there were 4 from Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, 4 from Bachelor of Elementary Education, 3 from Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management, 3 from Bachelor of Science in Social Work, 3 from Bachelor of Education Major in Science, 2 from Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, 1 from Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Marketing Management, and 1 from Bachelor of Office Administration. In terms of the location of the respondents; most of them were residing in Mascap with a total number of 13 outnumbered the respondents who were residing in Macabud with a total of 5 and Puray with a total of 3.In terms of monthly family income, most of them range from 6,000 to 10,000 monthly family income bracket with a total number of 7, followed by 5,000 and below monthly family income bracket with 5 respondents, 11,000 to 15,000 monthly family income bracket with 3 respondents, 21,000 to 30,000 monthly family income bracket with 2 respondents while in 16,000 to 20,000 monthly family income bracket have only 1 respondents. The problems encountered by the respondents are; distractions in their surroundings answered by 20 students, difficulties in submission of school works and attending online classes for all of the students, poor connectivity by using cellular data for 11 students while 10 students who is using wifi connection also experiencing difficulties in poor connectivity, And lacking of devices or gadget that they used in doing school work and attending class such as laptop and computer because 16 of them only uses cellphone, 4 of them have own laptop and 1 of them have computer. According to the response of the students in the questionnaire, respondents answered that they overcome that problem by citing locations that have a strong internet connection and finding the option to submit their school works on time and avoid their absences during online classes. The suggested solutions to overcome the problems by the respondents are; never give up in your dreams answered by 11 students, work hard answered by 4 students, finding location or spot where internet connectivity is strong also answered by 4 students and suggested that perseverance answered by 2 students. Based on the summary of findings, the following conclusions were drawn most of the students were from College of Education. Majority of the respondent's residing were from Mascap. Most of the students' monthly family income belongs to poor based on family Income bracket. Most of the students encountered problems in online learning which had an impact on their submission of schoolwork in terms of internet connectivity. Their learning environment also affects their focus in doing activities due to different noises that come from their surroundings. Students come up with a solution to solve the problem that they have been encountered by citing a location that has strong internet connectivity before their assigned online class or submission of school work and activities. Students suggest that they need to find a spot or area where they can attain or receive sufficient signal strength. Even though students face difficulties as a result of their location, they find a way to encourage themselves and meet their school's criteria
