Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Elementary Education-Content Course University of Rizal System, Rodriguez, Rizal 2016 Summary: The researchers aimed to know the effects of early exposure to hard work on the academic performance of 4th to 6th graders. The study was conducted during the School Year 2015-2016 with 13 students coming from Eulogio Rodriguez Jr. Elementary School (ERES). The researcher used the Qualitative Method, which aims to determine the nature of situation, as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the causes of particular phenomena This study used a questioning method of research utilizing a questionnaire checklist and documentary analysis to collect the necessary data. The researchers also employed the observations and interview techniques to validate and substantiable all collected data for research. From the gathered data, the following findings were obtained, out of 13 respondents, five (5) were male and eight (😎 were female. Most of them were junk collectors and the rest had other means of living. Most of them belonged to big families Majority of them had a monthly income that was not enough to provide the needs of the respondents and their families. All of them were encountering financial problems. Out of 13 respondents, eleven (11) of them were in the lower sections and the other two (2) were not. Most of these pupils could not pass their projects and activities on time set by their teacher. According to the respondents' teachers, all of the respondents had a hard time on their academics. They also observed that those students could not keep themselves abreast with their classmates' learnings. Majority of the parents of the students who were working had a hard time in helping their children in their assignments, activities and projects in school. All of them said that they were working for them to help their families and to sustain their needs particularly in school. Out of 6 teachers that the researchers interviewed 2 of them said that the parents of the students did not communicate with them. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: Most of the respondents belonged to big families and have a monthly income that cannot sustain their needs. Students who are engaged in early exposure to hard work found difficulty in their studies. The students who work at their early age could not concentrate well during class discussion. Certainly, their early engagement to work affects their studies. Those students who are engaged in early work experienced starvation, drowsiness, and tiredness inside their classes Some of them could not get along well with their other classmates. The parents of the respondents could not guide well their children in terris of their studies, Most parents of the children under study lack communication with their teachers in terms of their progress in their studies. Problems about these children are inevitable by nature but still the teachers could manage to surpass them al In the light of the findings and conclusions enumerated previously, the following are hereby recommended. Pupils. "Education is the key to success" as a students they must remember this. They should focus their attention to their studies to build a good future on their generation. Parents serve as an inspiration of their children. They should continuously give parental love, care, concern and attention to their children particularly in academics. They should find ways if not possible at lessen their children engagement to work. Teachers/Advisers serve as the second parents of their students inside the school/classroom. They should be always understanding on the plight of their pupils and resourceful in helping their pupils appease their difficulties. School Administration should give intervention programs to their pupils who are exposed to early hard work like remedial classes and bible studies; seminars and programs for parents. Furthermore, they should inculcate to them the meaning of education and its importance to their lives, and to motivate them to think positively. Local Government Unit. They should addressed those pupils involved in this matter not to stop them but to help them. This is an eye opener for the local government in the country to assist those children who are in needs, Implement more laws, livelihood project and protect them from abuse.
