EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study was conducted to develop instructional material in mathematics for grade 1 learners. The researcher used the MELCS and informal interview as the basis for choosing the addition topic to include in the engaging activities; however, it was changed by the panel to be more effective, and that’s why the researchers focused on seven competencies from the MELCS given by the chairperson. The research paper includes a title page, an approval sheet, an acknowledgement, a dedication, an abstract, a table of contents, a list of tables, and a list of figures. In addition, it is also composed of chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4. The researcher used the descriptive-developmental type of research design to evaluate the content, format, presentation, and organization of the developed material. Therefore, the researcher adapted the checklist from LRMDS that was used by the 20 experts from Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School, San Guillermo Elementary School, and Bombongan Elementary School located in Morong, Rizal, to assess and evaluate the material, which is engaging activities in mathematics for grade 1 learners. The researchers used the Likert scale to assess and evaluate the developed material to determine the level of acceptability and the comments and suggestions of the experts who were validated as respondents. The evaluation’s result showed that the content of engaging activities in mathematics for grade 1 learners is suitable, accurate, and appropriate for the learners, and the activities included in the material can effectively capture the learners’ interest and attention. The results also convey that the developed material, based on its physical appearance, was immaculate and well-constructed. Moreover, the developed engaging activities need to be improved by increasing the font size on the RTC activity, and that’s the only thing that needs to enhance the overall outcome, as it was stated that the material can be used by the grade 1 teacher that the researcher used as respondents.
