Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English University of Rizal System, Rodriguez, Rizal 2015 Summary: This study aimed to know the effectiveness of oral enhancement among grade VII students at Wawa National High School during the school year 2014-2015. The subjects of the study were 60 students out of 76 grade VII in one section who enrolled during the first grading of 2014-2015. Experimental research was employed in this study using pre-test and post-test oral reading activities to measure their oral skills. The measured skills treated and interpreted. To know the mean scores of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental and control group, computed the p-value and the verbal interpretation to determine the significance difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the experimental and controlled group. And also to know the significance difference between the post-test mean scores of the experimental and the controlled group Based on the analysis and statistical treatment applied to the gathered data, the means scores of the experimental group in pre-test was 22.43% and the mean score in post-test was 26.9%. The pre-test and post-test mean scores of the controlled group were 22.6% and 22.17%. On the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group the computed t-value in pre-test was 12.6 and the p-value 0.001 was less than 0.05 hence the null hypothesis was rejected. This implies that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group. On the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores in control group. It shows that the pre-test mean score is 22.6 and 22.17 in post-test. And the computed t-value was 1.74 and the p-value was 0.855 greater than 0.05 the null hypothesis was failed to reject. This implies that there is no any significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the control group. On the significant difference between the post-test of experimental and controlled group the computed t-value was 1.74 and the p-value was 0.855 greater than 0.05 the null hypothesis was failed to reject. This implies that there is no significance difference between the two. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were obtained: Most of the students in experimental and control group improved their scores in their pre-test and post-test. The experiment group performed well in their pre-test and post-test. There is a significant difference between the post-test of the control and experimental group. Most of the students in experimental group improved their scores in post-test. It only shows that the students developed their oral communication skills. Having completed the study, the researchers recommend that the school administrations should conduct more activities regarding the oral communication enhancement of the students. The researchers also recommend that the Teachers of English should not focus on writing, reading and listening alone they must provide more oral activities, drills and exercises to enhance the oral skills of the students. The researchers also recommend that the Students should practice speaking English and read books written in English to enhance their oral skills that they can apply in real life situations. And lastly the researchers recommend the future Researchers to conduct related studies that will help the learners to improve their oral skills.
