This study primarily aimed to determine the Implementation of Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 in Southville 8A, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal. The researchers conducted the study at Southville 8A, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal. The respondents of the study are 100 randomly selected numbers of household representing Southville 8A, Barangay San Isidro. The study conducted during school year of 2014-2015.
The researchers utilized the descriptive method of the study.
Questionnaire checklist was used as a primary source of data. The statistical tools were frequency and percentage distribution.
In gathering data, the researchers distributed the questionnaires to the respondents in order to determine the Implementation of Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 in Southville 8A, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal dated December 1, 2014. Tabulation and interpretation were done accordingly.
From the data gathered, the following findings were summarized. As for the profile of the respondents in term of age, majority of the respondents belong to the bracket of 50 and above with the frequency of 32 or 32 percent. With regard to gender of the respondents, there are more male respondents with the frequency of 57 or 57 percent than female respondents. As to the length of residency of the respondents, majority of them belong to the bracket of 3-9 years with the frequency of 23 or 23 percent. With regard to the occupation of the respondents, most of the respondents were housewife with the frequency of 19 or 19 percent
Majority of the respondents are males with the right age and most of them have lived in Barangay San Isidro for about three years above. Majority of the respondents work is housewife while a lot also of them are having no jobs.
With regards to the Level of Awareness of the Respondents on the Policies and Programs by the Local Government about Solid Waste Management, most of the respondents are least aware of the policies and programs about Solid Waste Management with the mean of 2.48 and interpreted as least aware. The result shows that the respondents are not much aware about the Solid Waste Management Programs and Policies. The second was the Level of Practices of the Respondents about Solid Waste Management with a mean of 2.93 with its verbal interpretation of Sometimes. The result shows that most of the respondents do not practice regularly the right way of Proper Waste Disposal.
The third was the Level of Perception of the Respondents on the implementation of the Local Government about the Policies and Programs about Solid Waste Management with a mean of 2.57 with its verbal interpretation of Disagree. The result shows that most of the respondents agree that the Policies and Programs about Solid Waste Management are not implemented well.
As to the Respondents' opinion pertaining to the Problem of Implementation of Policies and Programs on Solid Waste Management, most of the respondents agree that Local Government's lack of effort is the major problem in the implementation of Policies and Programs in relation to the Solid Waste Management Act of 2000
As to the Respondents possible solution on solid waste management problems, most of the respondents agree that Strict Implementation of the Law is the best way to solve the problem on Solid Waste Management.
Based on the findings of the study the researchers formulated the following conclusions
Majority of the respondents are Males with the right age and most of them lived in Barangay San Isidro for about three years above. Majority of the respondents work is housewife while a lot also of them are having no jobs. As to the Level of Awareness of the Residents of SouthVille BA, Barangay San Isidro to the Policies and Programs being Implemented by the Local Government, most of them are least aware to the Policies and Programs that should be implemented by the Local Government which shows that maybe the local government is lacking of information dissemination about Solid Waste Disposal to its constituents. As to the Practices of the Residents on Solid Waste Management, it shows that most of the residents are practicing the proper way of waste disposal but there are also a few items which the respondents seem not to know the proper way waste disposal which shows that there are ways of waste disposal that the respondents are practicing while there are also way of waste disposal that the respondents do not know and either practicing. As to the Level of Perception of the Residents of Southville 8A on the Implementation of the Local Government on Policies and Programs about Waste Disposal Management, most of the respondents do not agree that the local government is implementing the policies and programs in accordance with the R.A. 9003 about Solid Waste Management. As to the Respondents Opinion pertaining to the Problem of Implementation of Policies and Programs on Solid Waste Management, most of the respondents agree that Local Government Lack of Efforts is the major problem in the implementation of Policies and Programs in relation to the Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. As to the Respondents Possible Solution on Solid Waste Management Problems, most of the respondents agree that Strict Implementation of the Law is the best way to solve the problem on Solid Waste Management.
