Education had a key role in leaming to be successful in life. Teaching strategies were one of the solutions for the challenges in the teaching-learning process in the Today's learners. The study aimed to develop, validate and determine the effectiveness of games strategy in teaching Biology 9 at Commonwealth High School. The ADDIE model was the basis for games development by researcher and the validation was undergone analysis of experts utilizing the instructional materials quality assurance checklist. The fimitation of the study was utilized only in face-to-face modality. The researcher utilized mixed methods and sequential explanatory design. Data gathering quantitative data through collection of test scores that undergone statistical analysis followed by collection of qualitative data through interview from the selected fifteen students in experimental group then, undergo thematic analysis. The pretest and posttest mean scores were higher in experimental group than control group, significant difference. The results of t-value revealed the rejection of null hypothesis and that there was a significant difference.
These findings underscored the effectiveness of games strategy in teaching in Biology 9. The study recommended to students that they should strengthen their comprehension on reading instructions, applying prior knowledge, and maintain collaborative learning with peers. Teachers should utilize the games strategy to increase class participation and feedback from the leamers to make necessary adjustments that are suitable to the learning context of students.
School administrators support that they should organize programs such as seminar workshops for teachers anchored in games strategies for different subjects that enhance engaging leaming and addressed with leaning curves from junior high to senior high school levels. This research can be used as literature of future researchers to develop games strategy on student academic performance across learning areas and conducted on a hybrid setup.
