EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study was designed to determine the effect of MagLev in the torque of the shaft for wind turbine efficiency. The speed of shaft rotation of the wind turbine is measured using tachometer while torque measuring apparatus was used for the determination of the actual torque of the shaft. Anemometer is also used to measure wind velocity for the wind turbine theoretical power. Voltmeter and Ammeter was used to measure Output power for which the efficiency could also be determined. With these instruments the researchers could be able to do the testing and the results would be compared between the turbine without MagLev and the Turbine with MagLev. This apparatus is composed of the following: a Rotor Blade, a Shaft which connects the Rotor blade through the turbine shaft to the pulley, and belt which transmits the power from the Turbine to the generator, Magnets which are used as detachable to provide Levitation, Generator to be able to measure the power produced by the turbine, frame which is used to withstand vibration transmitted by the turbine and to hold each part and wind turbine which is the prime mover. Comparison of the results would give us a clearer view of how maglev affects the Turbine performance and it shows that in terms of rpm, torque and efficiency and in term of economic value it has a considerable outcome. Based on the findings and data gathered which had been compared the effect of maglev in the torque of the shaft for wind turbine efficiency that increase in rotational speed was achieved with an average difference of 11.87rpm over their corresponding average velocity while the torque of the shaft had decrease by an average of 0.087 Nm per watt while it has gained an increase in efficiency of 21.99% and is more economical with 50.2 Php per watt and 103.95 Php per % which is more cheaper by just using Maglev Technology. Based on the accumulated results, the researchers concluded that the Maglev has the capacity of increasing the Turbine's rotation per minute, decreasing fewer figures in terms of torque, and increasing wind turbine efficiency. While economically, the turbine with MagLev is cheaper in terms of price per watt and price per efficiency compare to Turbine with MagLev which has more losses in terms of power and efficiency. The researchers come up with the following recommendations. The future researchers can still modify the materials use, and the design to have the best results. Also, to use more magnets that able to lift the rotor blade completely as the researchers found that the magnets that it would cause a constant rotation even without the help of the wind and to be able to give a more precise and detailed design of a Savonius type wind turbine.
