Millares, MAT TI - Development, Validation and Effectiveness of Modified Reading materials AV - LG 221 .R59 M327 2021 PY - 2021/// KW - effectiveness of the modified reading materials N1 - GSTHESIS N2 - The main objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the modified reading materials for Grade 7 students of Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma High School during the Academic Year 2020-2021. The experimental, descriptive-evaluative, and descriptive-qualitative methods of research were used to gather data. The subject of the study was the effectiveness of the developed modified reading materials. It was tested to sixty (60) students, (thirty (30) students from Control and thirty (30) students from Experimental Group) Grade 7 students of Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma High School during the school year 2020-2021. They were selected using random sampling technique. Two groups are formed as experimental group and control group. The Experimental group was taught using the developed modified reading materials and the control group used usual way of teaching. Both groups took pretest and post test to determine their competencies in grade 7 English. The research instruments were the diagnostic test, the pretest and post test questionnaire and interview guide. Based on the findings, the result of the diagnostic test on English 7 determined the five least mastered competencies which are Reading comprehension, sequencing events, noting details, drawing conclusions and vocabulary. Both the experimental group and the control group shows increase in the mean scores from pretest to Post test.
