This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of scaffolding and metacognitive strategies in solving word problems in algebra. These was conducted during the School Year 2018-2019 at Guinayang Annex National High School From each class, thirty five (35) students were chosen. One group was exposed to a method of instruction that involved Scaffolding Strategy Experimental 1 Another class tagged as the Experimental 2 which exposed to method of instruction that involved Metacognitive Strategy. And on the other hand, which was labelled as the controlled group, direct instruction was utilized. All classes were given pretest and posttest.
The researchers used experimental and qualitative methods. This consists of manipulating experimental variables under highly controlled conditions to determine how and why a particular event occurs While qualitative research describes the factors and effects of this research.
