Thesis
This study explored the influence of parental expectations and academic resilience on the academic performance of college students at the University of Rizal System (Morong Campus). A quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional design was employed to collect data from 600 randomly selected students. The study utilized the Academic Resilience Scale-30 and an adapted Parental Expectations Scale to measure the variables of interest. The findings revealed that students perceived high levels of parental expectations, which, when coupled with strong academic resilience, positively influenced their academic performance. Academic Resilience emerged as a significant mediator in the relationship between parental expectations and academic performance. This study suggests that high parental expectations, when balanced with support and understanding, can motivate students to strive for academic excellence. However, it is crucial to foster Academic Resilience to help students effectively cope with academic challenges and maintain motivation.
