This study aimed to determine the preparedness of residents near West Valley Fault line in Rodriguez, Rizal. The researchers used the Qualitative method of research. This was participated in by two hundred respondents from selected areas at Rodriguez, Rizal namely Kasiglahan Village, Christine Ville, and Amity Ville, and three concerned local government agencies like San Jose Bureau of Fire Protection, San Jose Police Station, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

From the gathered data, the following were the drawn findings:

Majority of the respondent's ages ranged from 12 to 40 years. Females outnumbered males. Majority of the respondents residency were located at Kasiglahan Village. The respondents profiles in terms of length of residency were ranging 1 to 40 years. Most of them were students and unemployed.

On the preparedness of residents before earthquake, they were prepared.

They knew the emergency numbers of the local government units, where was the nearest evacuation area, initial response in the earthquake, they strengthen the physical structure of their house, heavy objects were not elevated, storing important things for survival, far from any body of water. On preparedness of residents during earthquake, they are prepared. Majority of the respondents knew what to do during the occurrence of earthquake. They stated that they stopped the car while travelling and perform duck, cover, and hold. In home they would hide under the table or anything that could protect them. Evacuation area was the meeting place of their family and if the evacuation area was damaged they would go to an open area free from falling objects. On the preparedness of residents after

earthquake, they were prepared. They knew when to evacuate and knew they should not go back on their house due to possible aftershocks such as fires or further damaged to their house.

Local Govemment Unit officials such as PNP, BFP, and MDRRMO are prepared on the occurrence of earthquake. All of them were coordinated, united, and their objectives were to save lives and properties. They prepared a risk reduction plan indicating the deployment of their personnel, conducting a fire drill, earthquake drill and educating people about this natural disaster such as orientation and seminars. Local government unit officials were very concern to the people and if people have knowledge they should share it to others about this natural disaster. They should stay calm and don't panic, they should have a "Go Bag with important things on it. They should know the emergency hotlines, evacuation areas and avoid anything that would fall.

Based on the summary of findings the following conclusion was drawn;

Since most of the residents have been staying in the area for decades, they know the behavior of the people and the status of the place, Residents are prepared to the unexpected occurrence of the Big One and the Local Government Units have initiated preventive measures for the Big One.

In light of foregoing findings and conclusions the following are hereby recommended. The Residents, should keep on being alert and be always prepared. They should also attend orientation and seminars about risk reduction of the different concern local government agencies for them to be able know what the safety precautions are when this natural disaster occurs. The Concern Local Government Units, should keep on informing and generate more seminars to

inform people especially on the prone areas. They must be also prepared more their personnel and Equipments in times of this natural disaster. Keep on communicating to the barangays that might be affected of this natural disaster and give them safety precautions. The Future Researchers, should conduct related studies that can enlighten the readers on the proper more to take on specific disaster happening.
