To assess the level of acceptability of the Supplementary Reading Material for At-Risk Readers, an adapted questionnaire checklist was used as the main tool in gathering the needed data. Also, to determine the reading comprehension level of the Grade 8 learners, the researcher used the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) results for the School Year 2022–2023. The study used a descriptive-developmental research design using a validated questionnaire checklist as the instrument. The respondents are the thirty (30) English 8 language teachers or 100% of the total population of Grade 8 English teachers in Cluster 1 of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Laguna. The development of Supplementary Reading Material outlines a systematic process for elevating Grade 8 students' reading proficiency, commencing with an analysis of Phil-IRI data and interviews to identify areas for improvement. A methodically designed supplementary resource targets Word Recognition and Reading Comprehension, featuring distinct learning objectives and levels of difficulty. The feedback of validators underscores its quality and capacity to enhance students' reading abilities effectively. The evaluation of the developed supplementary reading material for at-risk readers demonstrated widespread acceptability across the different criteria including objectives, content, format, applicability, and usability. While generally well-received, specific areas for improvement have been identified, indicating the need for revision and enhancement to further optimize the material's effectiveness.
