This study focused on the assessment of the status of implementation of
the reading remediation program for elementary learners: an input for proposed
extension program. It was conducted at Karangalan Elementary School during
the school year 2023-2024. There was a total of seventeen (17) respondents of the study who are
composed of involved teachers in reading remediation program from kinder to
grade 2. They were chosen using the purposive and total enumeration. The researchers used descriptive method of research along with the
Qualitative Discussion, Frequency, Percentage and Rank Distribution, and Mean
and Standard Deviation as the statistical tools of the study. A researcher-made
questionnaire checklist was used as the main gathering tool used in the
evaluation of status of implementation of the reading remediation program for
elementary learners: an input for proposed extension program along with Likert
scale. On the profile of the respondents in terms of availability of instructional
materials, manpower, and availability of facilities and equipment. Based on the gathered data, on the profile of the respondents in terms of
years of teaching, majority of the respondents has 6 to 10 years of teaching
experience; in terms of Specialization, majority of the respondents are Filipino
major; in terms of grade level handled, majority of the respondents are handling
grade 1 and 2 classes; in terms of years of involvement in the reading program, majority of the respondents has a 1 to 5 years of involvement in the reading
program; and lastly in terms of number of seminars attended related to reading, majority of the respondents has attended 7 and above seminars. On the status of reading remediation with respect to Availability of the
Instructional Materials, Manpower, and Availability of Facilities and Equipment. Based on the summary of findings, it is concluded that there is a sufficient
evidence that the Karangalan Elementary School is experiencing lack of
manpower and availability of facilities and equipment to conduct reading
remediation program. It is recommended that student teachers from University of Rizal System- Cainta Campus can augment the manpower needs for the reading remediation
program. It is recommended that if there is no available space, we kindly suggest
utilizing any unused rooms within the University of Rizal System-Cainta Campus.
