The objectives of this study are to explore the lived experiences of court stenographers on their compensation. Phenomenological design was utilized in this study, it is a qualitative method that investigates everyday human experiences, aiming to understand the universal essence of a phenomenon or experiences of the participants without preconceived assumptions. The participants of this study are court stenographers with 1 year and above experience, regardless of their age, gender, race and the division of their court office. Furthermore, the manner of selection of the participants was utilized by the process of inclusion and exclusion, the researchers did not include retired court stenographer. The researchers transcribed all data after the interview, sorted the data using a table that contains the following; problem, themes, and participants answers.
Based on the gathered data the following findings were drawn the participants insisted the supreme court compensation system is consistent, generous and sustainable. In addition, they described their earnings as a well-administered compensation, since they experienced an excellent, and efficient compensation schedule. The participants had been exposed to a steady, transparent and also an advanced compensation system for the reason of they have not experience any issues such as; imbalanced, delay, inaccurate and inadequate amount of compensation on their salary, allowances, and other form of compensation resources. They reasoned that this was due to steady industry standard of the supreme court in terms of compensating their employees. Individuals involved in this study expressed their concems despite of having a well administered compensation and being a contented government employee, they still experienced some compensation challenges throughout their career as a court stenographer. Such problem describe as; the participant felt unfulfilled by experiencing uncompetitive monthly salary, they compared their compensation to other court stenographer's who worked on other legal offices. Moreover, the court stenographer experiences a higher tax percentage rate on allowances which is 25% deduction directly to their allowances, the participants felt displeasure every time they received allowances that is already deducted. Lastly. the participants clarified that each court employee's pay was placed on three
months hold while the necessary paperwork of the employee was processed.
Prior to receiving their compensation, the employee's pay was subject to approval from numerous divisions and signatories. The participants suggested that if the reclassification would be approved, they suggested a higher monthly salary ranging from 35-40 thousand pesos. The participants recommended that it would be better for them to reduce the tax percentage rate ranging from 10 to 15 percent. Each and every people involved in the interview, agreed another form of allowance to improve the set-backs of their compensation problems, the participants agreed to add a health allowance to all of the court employees since the only beneficiary of their health card is the employee itself. Congress. This study could be utilized to the congress on the reclassification on the salaries of government employees, wherein they can consider the increase of the salary of court stenographers. In addition, this research could be used to reconsider the amount of taxes implemented to the allowances of court employees to help their financial needs. Supreme court. The result of this study may be considered by the supreme court to formulate and established another form of basic allowance to cover up the expenses of their employees' health expenditures. This might aid to adhere the concerns of their employees, Future Researchers, The next generation of researchers can refer to this study as a reference guide for their in-depth exploration on understanding the lived experiences of court stenographers relative to their compensation.
