| 520 | _aThe main purpose of the study is to determine if there is any significant relationship between the performances of freshmen students of the University of Rizal System Rodriguez Campus in High School Physics and College Algebra. The study utilized descriptive method of research which is fact finding method of adequate interpretation. The setting of the study was University of Rizal System Rodriguez Campus with 196 freshmen students as the respondents. The gathered data was tallied, computed and interpreted using the appropriate statistical treatment. Mean was used to determine the performance of the respondents in physics and college algebra. The t-test for correlation was employed to determine the significant relationship between the performance in high school physics and college algebra of freshmen students of the University of Rizal System Rodriguez Campus. Based from the data gathered from the respondents, the following findings were obtained: Majority of respondents got a score 7 and below both in physics and algebra with 27 or 54% and 21 or 42% respectively. The mean score of the respondents in physics was 7.55 while 7.72 is the mean score for algebra. Base from the findings of the study the following conclusions were obtained: The average score of the respondents in high school physics was fair and in college algebra was also fair. By the use of t-test for correlation, their r-value is 0.708 and the p-value is 000 which is less than 0.05 level of significance. The null hypothesis was rejected, therefore there is significant relationship between the performance in high school physics and the performance in college algebra. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers recommends to the administrators of the school to conduct programs that would improve more the performance of the students in both physics and algebra. The teachers might integrate the two disciplines so that there would be another learning experiences and it might serve as motivation for the students. The high school students should enhance their performance in physics that will possibly give them a better performance in algebra. | ||
