| 520 | _aThis research study, Online Passenger Scheduling System at Binangonan Port, was conducted during the School Year 2023–2024 in Barangay Subay, Cardona, Rizal, and Barangay Sta. Ursula, Pritil, Binangonan, Rizal. The researchers created a reservation website to help passengers with their transportation and to secure their private information for records. The researchers conducted this study for the purpose of helping the community of commuters that sail through Laguna Lake. The long passenger queues and the lack of available “motor banca” rides result in everyday struggles for the people of Talim Island. These are examples of problems that commuters experience. The researchers believed that these problems can be addressed with a reservation system that utilizes a booking process for passengers and operators. The system leverages digital technology to facilitate efficient reservation management, improve customer experience, and enhance operational efficiency. Passengers can conveniently book motor banca trips and schedule them. The admin can add schedules with time and date for the motor banca and post announcements. The admin also manages the information of passenger accounts and maintains the list of passengers for every scheduled sail. The study used developmental and descriptive research methods. Developmental research was used for gathering information to evaluate and test the responses to the system, while descriptive research was applied to record and monitor every factor gathered during the evaluation stage of the system. The researchers used a convenience sampling method to gather data from local motor banca passengers at Binangonan Port. The user side is for passengers, while the admin side is managed by the coast guard. The researchers used a questionnaire to determine the functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, security, maintainability, and portability of the system. A 5-point Likert Scale and verbal interpretation were used to understand and analyze the gathered data. The data gathered resulted in an overall rating of “Very Satisfactory” by the respondents for functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, security, maintainability, and portability, with the highest average weighted mean of 4.8 in security and the lowest of 4.57 in functional suitability. The developed system, with a total weighted mean of 4.66, was rated “Very Satisfactory” by the respondents in terms of functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, security, maintainability, and portability. This proves that the researchers successfully developed a system that meets the needs of passengers of motor banca in Binangonan Port, as stated in the objectives of the study. The researchers recommended improving the website by updating the system with more features, such as implementing waitlist management and integrating a billing system. Future researchers may also improve the overall booking experience and explore different techniques to enhance the system’s operational efficiency. | ||
