502 _bThesis (Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
520 _aEXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The general objective of this research study was to develop a Security, Control and Monitoring system for Engineering Faculty Room in University of Rizal System-Morong Campus during the academic year 2017-2018. The study was conducted and the system was built for the purpose of addressing educational institutional problems such as room security, room power wastage and room monitoring. The design of the system is comprised of an RFID-based door locking system, RFID-based AC main line switch and a wireless room monitoring feature. The wireless room monitoring feature utilized ZigBee technology and a graphical user interface where notifications about a room will be monitored and displayed. This study specifically aimed to: design and construct a Security, Control and Monitoring System for Engineering Faculty Room in URS-Morong, evaluate the level of acceptability of the system in terms of functionality, usefulness, safety features and maintenance, and to evaluate the level of acceptability of the developed program for monitoring purpose in terms of workability, accuracy, user-friendliness and portability. In determining the level of acceptability of the system and the program for monitoring purpose, weighted mean was used. Since this study was conducted to address different educational institution problems, the researchers utilized a descriptive-developmental type of research method. In developing the system, the main hardware components are Arduino Microcontroller, RC522 RFID reader, XBee modules, solid-state relay and solenoid door lock. In creating the program for monitoring, the software was written in Visual Basic.NET programming language using Visual Studio Community Edition 2015 with Microsoft SQL (Structured Query Language) Server 2012 as is database engine. In gathering the data for the results of this study, a researcher-made and expert-validated questionnaire checklist was utilized. The respondents for this study of the purpose of evaluation were 13 experts which mainly composed of engineers and URS-M Engineering Faculty members, 12 engineering students, and 5 non-teaching staffs. Based on the gathered data, the summary of the findings was established. The Security, Control and Monitoring System for Engineering Faculty Room was designed and cionstructed successfully. On the level of acceptability of the system as perceived by the respondents, thesystem was found extremely acceptable in terms of functionality, usefulness, safety and maintenance. On the level of acceptability of the developed program for monitoring purpose as perceived by the respondents, the program was found extremely acceptable in terms of workability, accuracy, user-friendliness and portability. Based on the summarized results, it was concluded that the system served its purpose with the high level of acceptability on the different aforementioned parameters when it comes to providing room security, control and monitoring. Based on the findings and conclusions, the researchers set forth the following recommendations. Expand the system's capacity by means of making it capable of providing room security, control and monitoring to more than just one room or office. Make the system capable of monitoring not just the state of the AC main line but also the stated of the appliances connected to it. the researchers also advise to make a mobile and/or online version of the monitoring software and make it cross-platform compatible. Further studies should also be undertaken so that the system's wireless operating distance can be increased. Lastly, if ever the system will be adapted, its design should be considered and added to the electrical plan of the building where it will be installed and implemented.
