Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the level of writing proficiency of grade 7 students focusing only on proper use of grammar, punctuations, and spelling. This study was conducted at University of Rizal System Morong Laboratory School during the school year 2013-2014. The 40 grade 7 students were the respondents of this study. The researchers used a questionnaire as the main instrument in determining the student's level of writing proficiency, with respect to profile of the respondents, elementary school graduated from and academic performance in English. The descriptive method of research was utilizing the validated questionnaire which consists of the profile of respondents with respect to sex, elementary school graduated from and academic performance in English. To determine the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, elementary school graduated from, and academic performance in English, frequency and percentage distribution were used. To determine the level of writing proficiency of the respondents with respect to grammar, punctuations, and spelling mean, and standard deviation were utilized. To determine the significant difference on the level of writing proficiency of the respondents. One-way analysis of Variance was used. Sex, type of elementary school graduated from, and academic performance in English have no significant relationship with the level of writing proficiency of the respondents. The findings showed that the respondents' writing proficiency belonged to "proficient" level.
