Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counseling) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the characteristics of teachers and its influence to career choice of high school student in the school year 2013-2014. The researchers choose 50 respondents from 3rd tear and 50 respondents from 4th year high students in Morong National High school and make the total of 100 respondents. In San Guillermo National High School, also 50 respondents from 3rd year and 50 respondents from 4th year high school students having a total of 100 respondents. 200 is the overall total of the respondents in both Morong National High School and San Guillermo National High School. The subjects of the study were the students with their profile such as sex, year level, parents occupation, and preferred course. the students also served as the respondents of the study and conducted in two public schools including Morong National High School and San Guillermo National High School. The researchers made questionnaire checklist was used as the main instrument in gathering data with respect to the teacher's techniques such as directives non-directives. Descriptive method of research was also used in the conduct of the study. On the profile of the respondents. In terms of sex, out of 200 respondents 77 or 38.5 percents are male and 123 or 61.5 percent are female. In terms of year level, out of 200 respondents 100 or 50 percent respondents are 4th and 3rd year. In terms of parents occupation, the majority result of mother's occupation is self employed with the mean of 51 or 25.5 percent and in father's occupation is private employed with 44 or 22 percent. In terms of preferred course, out of 200 respondents belonged to education with 56 or 28 percent. With respect to teacher as educator, the obtained general mean 4.18 verbally interpreted :often". With respect to teacher's motivation, the obtained general mean 4.25 verbally interpreted "always:. With respect to teacher as a model, the obtained general mean 4.27 verbally interpreted "always". With respect to teacher as a good friend, the obtained general mean 4.33 verbally interpreted "always". Based from the summarized data, the following conclusions were drawn. the characteristics of teacher that least influence the career choice of respondents is majority of the respondents are female with equal number from third year and fourth year high school students whose parents have occupation. Most of the high school students preferred education as their course. Students preferred teachers who act as a good friend, a model who motivates ans as an educator. In the light of the findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are offered such as career orientation or career guidance may be implemented and integrated in high school activities from list to fourth year level. Conduct seminar to teachers which will emphasize their role and function as teachers to students career choice. Parallel study may be conducted considering other variable.
