Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study was conducted to determine the oral and written competencies of the second year English language in University of Rizal System, School year 2015-2016. To determine the process and outcome of the study, qualitative description was used. To determine the competencies of the respondents reading poem and writing essay were administered to measure their oral and written competencies. To find out the scores, different adapted-modified rubrics were used in oral and written, mean was applied. The scores of the respondents in terms of written are higher than in oral. The researchers recommended that the students majoring in English should be exposed to more readings and inputs that will give them confidence to engage with meaningful oral and written activities as part of their academic preparation as future teachers of English language. Develop more learning materials on oral and written language to serve as guide for the aspiring language teachers. Conduct further research on oral competence utilizing interview methods.
