Listening performance of the grade 7 students at Montalban Heights National High School/ Arman B. Geronimo, Ma. Petite L. Montajes [and] Myra C. Porras - 2015 - ix, 54 leaves; illustrations, 28cm,
Undergraduated Thesis
This research aimed to determine the listening performance of the grade 7 students using the post-test only analysis. The subject of the study was one hundred fifty (150)) student from Montalban Heights National High School enrolled during the School Year 2014-2015. Experimental research was employed in this study using questionnaire in gathering data. The gathered data were analyzed, treated and interpreted. To determine the difference between the listening performance between controlled and experimental group frequency and percentage distribution was used. Analysis of Variance was used to determine the significant difference between the performances of controlled and experimental group.
Based on the findings of the study, the researchers obtained the following:
With regards to the listening performance of the selected Grade 7 students the test scores of the students belonging to the controlled group obtained a computed average score of 6.9, while the computed average score of the students belonging to the experimental group number 1 is 4.1and the computed average score of students belonging to the experimental group number 2 is 3.14.
With regards to the significant difference between the controlled and experimental group the null hypothesis is rejected since the computed f-value 12.45 is greater than the p-value of .001 at level of significance = .05. The null hypothesis is rejected; therefore, there is no significant difference between performances of controlled and experimental group.
Based on the findings of the study the researchers formulated the following
conclusions:
The group of student-respondents who don't have the knowledge of the study shows low performance in their test result as compared to the group of students who has the knowledge of the study and was motivated enough to listen and participate in order to determine their listening performance.
There is a significant difference of the level of performance between the controlled group of student-respondents and the experimental group of student-respondents.
Guided by the results of the study and aforementioned conclusions, the following are hereby recommended;
The teachers should determine the remedies in applying their styles and techniques for the student learning especially in the students listening performance. The school should have an evaluation to determine the problems of the students and the students as well should help themselves to enhance their listening performance.
