The objective of this study was to identify the perceptions of parents toward the challenges that LGBTQIA+ children experience. The study used a questionnaire and one-on-one interviews to determine how parents respond and view the challenges that their LGBTQIA children are facing. Additionally, the study looked at how parents support their LGBTQIA+kids and how their support affects their wellness in general. The involved participants were 20 parents who have LGBTQIA+ children ages from 12 to 17 years who are residing in San Jose, Burgos, or San Rafael in Rodriguez, Rizal.
The researchers identified the profile of the respondents in terms of their age; gender, civil status; religion; educational attainment; occupation; and family income. Also, the researchers prepared a survey questionnaire, which contains their basic information, their perception of the challenges that LGBTQIA+ children face in our society, their role as a parent of an LGBTQIA+ child, and recommendation to the community and to the parents on how they will support the LGBTQIA+ children in facing those challenges.
In this study, the researchers sought to know the perception of parents towards the challenges encountered by their LGBTQIA+ children, their thoughts, and points of view regarding this topic which they used a qualitative research method. A qualitative research method such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, observations, and document analysis.
